Rainy days in Panama: Where to go

Panama is a Central American country, located between the northern tropic and the Ecuador, its weather is tropical wet therefore is humid and warm. The rainy season is from May and until November, being the last 2 months the rainiest months of the year (up to 13 inches of precipitation)

Panama has a lot to offer you and if you still want to come to Panama during the rainy season be aware you should get ready for the rain and take some actions to make your stay more enjoyable.

Here you go some places you may visit during the rainy season while in Panama City:



Our Lady of Mercy Museum

- OUR LADY OF MERCY CHURCH & MUSEUM: This is only church that maintains its original wooden roof and columns, dating back to the Spanish colonization. The impressive baroque facade was transported stone by stone from its original site, which was abandoned after an attack in 1671 by the infamous English pirate Henry Morgan. In the backyard, you can watch some italian bells that belonged to ancient churches and the museum is located at the third floor of the backyard building. It is mostly about the history of this religious order in Old Panama and in the Old town.

Schedule: Monday through Sunday 9:00-17:00

Admission fee: free entrance (so far).


Canal Museum

- THE CANAL MUSEUM: located at Independence square in the Old town, this museum store very valuable information and important collections about the Canal history from the beginning of the construction during the French stage, until ending of American presence in the isthmus.

Schedule: Tuesday thru Sunday from 9:00 until 17:00,

Admission fee: 10.00 USD (For better experience we suggest to take the audio guide for 3.00)

- BIOMUSEUM: Located at the Amador Causeway, this museum just opened 2 new exhibit which complement the original ones. Their exhibits are very informative and they are about the biodiversity history of the isthmus, the experts have said that isthmus of Panama didn’t exist millions of years ago and after the isthmus creation new species appeared.

Schedule: Tuesday thru Sunday from 10:00 until 16:00

Admission fee: 18.00 USD

Biomuseum


- MULTIPLAZA MALL: Panama is well known as a shopping Paradise and this exclusive mall offers many options for the visitors. Here you will find stores and restaurants for all budgets and tastes, We also find new stores, jewelry stores, perfumeries, footwear and latest fashion clothes, cinemas with VIP rooms and high-tech 3D, so that the entertainment experience is something extraordinary.

Opening hours: Monday through Sundays, from 10:30 to 20:30

Escape Room Panama

- ESCAPE ROOM: This is a new, funny and unique entertainment experience in Panama.

Choose the theme room of your preference and you will have 60 mins to accomplish the assigned mission and escape! This is a physical adventure game in which players solve a series of puzzles and riddles using clues, hints, and strategy to complete the objectives at hand. This activity is suitable for either groups or couples, it is necessary to call in advance to book the theme room. For more information call them at +507-6282-6712, or visit their website. The prices are subject to the amount of people (22.00-30.00 per person).

Opening hours: Tuesday to Sunday from 14:30 to 21:30.


MIRAFLORES LOCKS VISITOR CENTER: In this place you will be able to watch the ships going thru the Panama Canal, you will get to know about the locks operation and about the history of the Panama canal construction. There is a simulator on the second floor, exhibits about the flora and fauna and the new canal expansion. If you like to feel an authentic IMAX experience a new cinema was recently opened. The prices may vary 20.00 (only visitor center) and 30.00 (Visitor center + movie) for more information, click here.

Opening hours: Monday through Sunday, from 8:00 to 18:00. The tickets office closes at 17:15.


Miraflores Locks Visitor Center

Panama is a magical city and there is much more to offer to visitors. These have been the top places of Panama to visit during the rainy days however there are more much more places to visit in the city.
